John Curran suffered a lot of pain, according to the testimony of a witness who heard the commotion. John Curran was enjoying his last few weeks in South Africa before he had to return to Ireland, his native country.
A month or so after his contract at Mellon Educate — a non-profit organisation that plays in the housing and education space — he was found dead in his apartment.
SAPS’ Cape Town central spokesperson, Captain Ezra October, revealed to us, earlier in the week, that investigators had gathered crucial evidence that may blow the case wide open. Also, it was revealed to us that Curran had suffered fatal stab wounds.
What happened to John Curran?
We know for a fact that Curran had not been living at his apartment on Buitengracht Street for long. It is understood that he had opted to take a short-term lease until the end of the year to enjoy his last few months left in Cape Town.
We understand now that it was someone close to Curran that found him dead in his apartment. This is according to the account of a person who lives on the same block Curran’s apartment is.
A Twitter user who calls himself @MovesLikeDragan wrote a thread on the morning Curran’s body was discovered, detailing his account of what had happened.
One of the critical things ‘Dragan’ mentioned was the last time he had heard commotion on his block.
“I honestly heard people come home last night laaaate, like 03:30 or so. Doors banging closed. But there are lots of tourists in my block and they’re often jollers or are by the pool cos of timezones. But now I’m wondering if I heard something more?!”, he tweeted.

This could prove to be critical in determining the approximate time Curran was murdered.
