A beautiful view that could come at the cost of your life. News broke out on Sunday, 2 December through the National Sea Rescue Institute’s website, that a 31-year-old Sea Point resident had fallen to her death at the Chapman’s Peak Lookout Point.
The tragic incident occurred, sadly, on the victim’s birthday, as she was up on the iconic mountain, celebrating her birthday with family.
The Chapman’s Peak Lookout Hill, located on Chapman’s Peak Drive, Hout Bay, is a popular destination for many who like the landscape, picturesque view of the Atlantic Seaboard of the Mother City, a vision to behold.
Unfortunately, on Sunday late afternoon, at around 17:08, the NSRI together with the SAPS, were called to a horrific scene where the 31-year-old’s body was found meters below the Lookout Hill.
“In a high angle technical recovery operation her body has been recovered and taken into the care of the Forensic Pathology Services and Police have opened an inquest docket,” -the NSRI wrote in a statement.
This is not the first we have heard of tragic incidents occurring on Chapman’s Peak. The different types of fatalities that have occurred there over the years does make it a risky place to visit.
