The world is getting smaller and smaller. But despite the ease with which most of us can travel these days, shopping for uniquely South African products is not always worth an airfare across the world.
So instead, there’s a company based in Bristol that is bringing South African products to you, no matter where you find yourself.
The company is called Peace of Afrika and it embraces the richness of the cultures and styles that Africa has brought to the world.
Their products include a handpicked selection of classic leather footwear and cotton knitwear, designed with a distinctly African flavour.
The leather footwear is handcrafted in Cape Town, South Africa and is renowned for comfort and durability. The shoes are mostly made of bovine leathers – full-grain, suede or with hair on the hide to create one-of-a-kind pieces: classic wool-lined boots, attractive army boots and veldskoene.
All leather is procured from sustainable resources and is a by-product of the meat industry.
Peace of Afrika’s knitwear is made from quality cotton grown in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. It is spun in Standerton and creates comfortable, breathable knitwear, timeless in design and soft to the touch.
The cotton knitwear is machine washable and can be dried in a tumble drier. The forms are classic and suit all body shapes and sizes. The cotton is hypoallergenic and has been used in production since 1988 for clothing that is strong, durable, comfortable and insulated.
Giving back to communities
All Peace of Afrika products are produced in Southern Africa to support the establishment of skills and sustainable employment opportunities within the industry.
