According to documents seen by the BBC program ‘Panorama‘, British American Tobacco’s (BAT) private spies were caught spying on Savanna Tobacco’s factory, in Zimbabwe in 2012. After paying for talks with high-ranking Zanu PF members, about a donation of up to half a million dollars, the 3 spies were released. BAT is the manufacturer of Lucky Strike cigarettes and is one of the largest companies in the UK, where the multinational tobacco monopoly is headquartered in London.

Africans love to hate the very thing they want the most. They allegedly hate colonialism, but want everything it offers. During the economic boom of Apartheid South Africa, Africans were risking their lives to get INTO apartheid South Africa and there weren’t any sprawling refugee camps on the borders of the country Africans so loved to hate. Zimbabwe are not yet ready for a free, fair or credible election, said a delegation of observers from the USA, Europe and Africa on Friday.
The pre-election assessment group, which consists of the International Republican Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), told reporters that they hope that the issues that they disclosed in their report to the Zimbabwean Electoral Commission (ZEC) will be resolved successfully.

On 30 May 2018, the Zimbabwe Constitutional Court in Shumba and others v Minister of Justice and Parliamentary Affairs & others ruled that Zimbabweans outside the country could not participate in elections and in particular in the harmonised elections scheduled to take place on 30 July 2018, if they did not return to the country to register and vote. This finding directly violates a 2013 decision of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights that the prohibition on the right of Zimbabweans living abroad to vote constitutes a clear violation of the African Charter.
