The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has issued a new statement on what items you have to declare when leaving and returning to South Africa.
The statement follows a BusinessDay article in which a South African businessman reported that he was forced to pay R1,500 to bring his own laptop back into the country.
“In terms of customs legislation, South African residents travelling abroad are not required to declare their personal effects when leaving the country, nor upon return,” it said.

The Wine production in South Africa is drying up in the water crisis

South Africa is set for a steep decline in wine production in 2018 as the country grapples with a water crisis ravaging Cape Town and surrounding areas, a Paris-based global organisation said Tuesday.
Africa’s top wine producer is set to produce 8.6 million hectolitres of wine this year, down 20.4 percent down from 2017, the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) said in a statement.

EFF leader, Julius Malema’s call for the renaming of Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) sparked a great debate over the weekend, and according to IOL, a name change is on the cards.
Delivering an eulogy at late struggle stalwart, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral held in Soweto on Saturday, Malema threw down the gauntlet as he suggested that the airport be renamed to take the name of the anti-Apartheid icon.

If you are required to apply for a visa to visit Ireland, you can do this online but must do it from within your home country. The online application portal will have all instructions tailored to your location.
Applications will be in English, and you will need to be able to print at the end. You will also have to send in some supporting information like your passport/travel documents, and possibly biometric information.
